3D Assistance is a program that is both organized and run by the youth at the Digital Harbor Foundation Tech Center. Youth in DHF programs who have shown exceptional promise and skill in the area of 3D printing are selling Printrbot brand 3D printers as well as offering calibration and troubleshooting services. The program was conceived by DHF’s former Director of Technology Shawn Grimes and Darius McCoy, who as a youth in the program built a number of 3D printers and even displayed his printers at the White House for the first ever White House Maker Faire in 2014. The goal is to offer educators, as well as others in the community, a place where they can buy and get help with their Printrbot 3D printers.
